Photographic collections

The main objective of the Postal Museum’s image archive is to preserve picture material relating to the history of Finnish postal services. The archive is responsible for collecting, registering and storing Posti Group’s photographic material.

The core of the archive is formed by photographs of, for example, various vehicles used for postal deliveries and different post offices from small rural postal buildings to large postal centres. The earliest photographs in the archive date back to the 1890s. The archive is growing rapidly with new electronic material.

In addition to photographs, the collections include posters, postcards and films issued by or related to Posti. The image archive also includes an extensive selection of about 200,000 postcards arranged by theme, where you can search for cards by artist, location or holiday, for example.

You can view the collections by arranging your visit beforehand. Please consult our Collection services.
